A Mega Case Study: DSG Energy’s Solar Solution for the Rice Sector
Rice sector requires a significant amount of energy for rice mining and irrigation. The traditional sources of energy are very expensive, unreliable and emit high level of carbon emission which is contributing to climate change as well. Rice cultivation itself produces methane which contributes to global warming. By using solar energy, the rice sector can reduce carbon footprints and contributes to a more sustainable future.
DSG Energy provides sustainable energy solution to various sectors including agriculture. Our aim is to provide clean energy use while increasing productivity and reducing cost. One of the sectors that DSG Energy has been focusing on is rice sector, which is one of the largest consumers of electricity in agriculture. Solar energy is the cost-effective solution for the rice sector. It helps to reduce electricity costs associated with all the essentials in rice farming. Solar systems are relatively simple and require minimal maintenance that help in reducing overall operating cost.
DSG Energy provides a solar solution that addresses the challenges faced by rice sector. This solution enables farmers to access sustainable and reliable energy that increases their productivity and reduces their cost. Now farmers can generate their own energy with our solar panels that reduces their dependence on national grid and make them more independent. This provides greater flexibility in terms of energy use.
We have a proven track record for designing and installing solar systems for rice sectors. Our products and services are designed to last and perform well in specific environmental conditions of the rice sector.
The Naz Rice Mills in Sahiwal recently installed a 1.8 MW capacity solar power plant, which is a first-of-its-kind project. One of the key challenges faced during the project was the need for a customized heighted structure that could meet all the necessary protocols and wind control requirements. Despite the presence of multiple power sources at Naz rice mill, the genset working was successfully completed by DSG Energy within a timeframe of just 90 days. This project is a great example of how innovative solutions and effective project management can be used to overcome complex challenges and implement sustainable energy solutions.

The installation of a Solar Power Plant at Safia Rice Mills in Sahiwal was a significant project for the rice sector. With a capacity of 1 MW, it was the first ground Pilling project in the sector and presented numerous challenges for the project team, including the first-time use of HT working.
The project involved the installation of a transformer, VCB, and Step-Up working, which added to the complexity of the task. Despite these challenges, the project was completed within a tight 90-day timeline, which is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our project team.

The installation of a 1MW Solar Power Plant at Iqbal Rice Mills in Chiniot was a challenging project that required extensive labor and civil work. The project involved ground pilling and HT installation, with the biggest challenge being the compacting and leveling of the land. Furthermore, the installation required the laying of extensive underground cabling, which added to the complexity of the task.
One of the critical components of the project was the installation of the SCADA system, which required the laying of communication cables over a long distance of 600 meters. This added an extra layer of complexity to the project, as the HT long cable path posed a challenge for the team. Despite these challenges, the project was completed within 75 days.
The installation of the Solar Power Plant at Iqbal Rice Mills is a significant achievement with plans underway to install additional solar power plants at the site.

Hassan Corporation, located in Jalalpur Bhattian, faced several challenges during the installation of their 1.5MW capacity Solar Power Plant. The system was based on doom shells, which have large spans, requiring different structural configurations to be used, making the design challenging. Additionally, the ground was tiled, which presented a civil challenge when laying the long route of underground cables required due to the inverter room being located 500/600 feet away from the site.
The labor faced difficulties due to the doom shells, and the roofs being distributed, which required the central inverter room to be created. To avoid losses, all the cables were laid underground. The project was completed within the 4-month timeline, despite these challenges. The project was completed successfully and is now providing clean, renewable energy to the Hassan Corporation.

Sardar Rice Mills is a major rice processing plant located in Gujranwala, Pakistan. The project involved the installation of a 600kW solar power plant with an L2 Aluminium structure type. However, the labor force faced challenges due to the harsh weather conditions, particularly the heat. Despite the challenges, the project was completed within the 60 days timeline. Additionally, the project was relatively easy since it was a flat roof installation.

The installation of a 500kW Solar Power Plant at Al-Qadir Rice Mills in Mandi Bahuddin presented a unique set of challenges due to the compression of land caused by a water level less than 20 feet. The project utilized L2 Aluminium structures and required concrete ground pilling. The team was faced with the task of ensuring the stability and durability of the plant’s foundation under such conditions. Despite the challenges, the team successfully completed the project in just 75 days, providing the Rice Mills with a reliable and sustainable source of energy.

A solar power plant of 900KW capacity has been installed at Zamzama Rice Mills using Doom shells. During the installation, the team faced several challenges including weak Doom Shells foundation causing vibrations, lack of proper path for equipment delivery, inaccessible roof and labor issues due to the structure. To address these issues, the team used specialized equipment to transport the equipment to the site, reinforced the Doom Shells’ foundation to prevent water seepage and vibrations, and implemented safety measures for the labor. Even though Zamzama Rice Mills is using combined generators for two Mills, the genset sinking is successfully installed with our innovative solutions and effective project management. The project was completed within 90 days, resulting in significant cost savings for Zamzama Traders and helping them reduce their carbon footprint, contributing to their sustainability efforts. Despite the challenges, the team’s commitment to finding solutions ensured the project’s success.
The success of above mentioned projects demonstrate the benefits of clean and green energy solution in rice sector and it has contributed to the reduction of carbon emission. DSG Energy is the perfect example of how innovative clean energy solutions can promote sustainable development.
