Umer Group of Companies | 3 MW Grid Tied Solar Power Plant Case Study
In a world grappling with energy crises, the time for change has come. Traditional energy sources are strained, leaving us vulnerable to power shortages and environmental degradation. But amidst these challenges, there is a beacon of hope: solar power.
Solar energy offers a sustainable solution that can revolutionize the way we power our lives. It taps into the limitless potential of the sun, harnessing its abundant rays to generate clean, renewable electricity. By embracing solar power, we can break free from the shackles of energy crises and build a brighter, greener future.
Umer Group of Companies, a leading player in the textile industry, has been instrumental in driving economic growth in our country. With a diverse portfolio of companies under its umbrella, Umer Group has made significant contributions to job creation, export revenues, and overall development. However, the rapid growth and expansion of their operations unintentionally led to increased carbon emissions, exacerbating the global warming issue. Recognizing this challenge, Umer Group made a strategic decision to address their environmental impact by transitioning to renewable energy sources.
Umer Group sought a reliable and experienced partner to help them transition to a clean energy source. After careful evaluation, Umer Group chose DSG Energy, a renowned company with a proven track record in delivering innovative solar power solutions. DSG Energy’s expertise, technological advancements, and commitment to sustainable development aligned perfectly with Umer Group’s goals.
Working closely with Umer Group, DSG Energy designed and installed three separate solar power plants with a total capacity of 3MW. Each company—Bhanero Textile, Blessed Textile, and Umer Farms received a 1MW solar power installation. The solar power plants utilized state-of-the-art technology and advanced monitoring systems to maximize efficiency and reliability.
DSG Energy has successfully installed a 1MW solar power plant at Umer Farms to address their energy needs. The installation consisted of Canadian Solar 540W modules and Huawei Multi MPPT String Inverters (100KTL) on a ground-mounted structure with hot dip and galvanized single portrait design. Over a duration of 2.5 months, Umar Farm faced three key challenges: scattered installation areas, efficient power management with multiple sources, and HT termination.
To tackle these challenges, DSG Energy employed an efficient communication approach, ensuring clear understanding of technical requirements with Umar Farm. The solar power solution was meticulously designed, considering shading and losses to maximize energy generation and efficiency. A customized controller was programmed to meet Umar Farm’s specific requirements, enabling efficient power management from multiple sources. This allowed seamless integration and optimized utilization of solar energy alongside other power sources.
Additionally, DSG Energy’s technical team possessed the necessary expertise in HT terminations, ensuring the successful completion of the project. Their skill set guaranteed the safe and effective connection of the solar power plant to the farm’s high tension electrical systems.
Both Blessed Textile and Bhanero Textile, both subsidiaries of Umer Group, underwent the installation of a 1MW solar power plant on their rooftops. To support this installation, roof-mounted inverted beams with hot-dip galvanized iron were utilized. However, a significant challenge arose due to the east-west direction of the beams, resulting in a longer distance to cover. To overcome this challenge, gas genset sinking was employed, ensuring efficient power distribution. Additionally, an auto load shedding system was implemented to optimize energy consumption.
For the solar power generation, 540W of solar panels were employed, maximizing the capture of solar energy. These high-efficiency panels were carefully selected to provide the highest possible power output. To convert the captured solar energy into usable electricity, Huawei inverters with multi/MPPT strings were utilized. These advanced inverters ensured optimal conversion efficiency and reliable operation. By successfully navigating these barriers and implementing the optimal solar power system at Blessed Textile and Bhanero Textile, DSG Energy demonstrated their unwavering dedication to customer satisfaction, sustainability, and technological innovation.
DSG Energy’s collaboration with Umer Group has not only helped them become economically competitive but has also contributed to the larger goal of combating global warming and promoting sustainable practices. Their partnership stands as a testament to the positive impact that can be achieved when industry leaders come together to address environmental challenges and work towards a more sustainable future.
Let’s Keep Moving Towards A Greener Future!
