How to reduce electricity bills?
Pakistan’s electricity situation has been compromised by the high industrial, commercial, and domestic electricity usage and demand; moreover, the financial crunch our country is currently facing has created a lot of problems for our locals.
As per the recent research, it is observed that home appliances, including machines, LEDs, gadgets, air coolers and conditioners etc. and in Commercial and Industrial Sectors, companies are using high power consuming product manufacturing machinery and this routine increases the electricity units more due to the raise in electricity tariff, now is the right time with to reduce the electricity cost and the wastage of it from our country and switch to green renewable energy.
The recent fluctuation in electricity tariff and bill that Pakistan is currently facing, has left different C&Is and locals to pay more money for higher energy units on monthly basis. This has created a lot of economic problems among them.
There are some simple practices and ways that will help you to reduce the carbon footprints and manage the electricity bills:
Create Awareness:
We can see that The Government of Pakistan has played a crucial role of educating its nation by mentioning the process of using air conditioners at which temperature during peak and off-peak hours to avoid extra units’ consumption in their electricity bills.
Being a citizen, it is our responsibility to create an awareness campaign with the different sectors of Pakistan by educating them the importance of turning off extra home and official appliances and conserving extra energy.

Peak and Off-Peak Units:
It is mainly observed that there are different rates for peak and off-peak units separately and we should consume less energy in peak hours that are clearly mentioned on the back side of our energy bills and these regulations are passed out by NEPRA Pakistan.
To reduce the electricity unit’s consumption, one must avoid the usage of home appliances such as fridge, freezers, microwave ovens, TV, washing machines and air conditioners during peak hours on daily basis.
Plug out the Energy Devices:
It is our duty to equally to check and turn off all the devices that are not in use including home appliances just to avoid extra units’ consumption. Check and unplug all kinds of electronics after using it.
Although it is not the most efficient way to reduce the bills, it can create an impact towards the initiative to reduce the electricity bills, and we should try to find the maximum energy saving methods for our better future. Also, we have to make it our habit to follow these small steps to achieve our goal.
Natural Light Usage:
There was an era when local markets were selling Halogen light bulbs of different watts but, with the passage of time it was observed that they were consuming extra power, so it was decided to switch with the global trends by using LED bulbs, TVs etc. just to make sure that they will reduce the energy cost as right now, LED blubs are consuming less energy and become an important source of reducing electricity bills for all. During the day time, it is also requested to take advantage of natural light coming from sun to minimize the artificial use.
Energy Efficient Home Appliances:
Since 2004, Pakistan has started the process of buying and selling Split AC’s with the help of different local and imported energy brands. As the time passes, air split inverters were introduced and they started providing energy efficient results not only for households but for all sectors by reducing 30 – 40 percent electricity as compared to other window and split Acs.
Benefits of Switching to Solar:
Solar is a complimentary source of providing clean and green energy by reducing the carbon emissions and provides sustainable and long-term energy saving results and it reduces the electricity cost and eliminates the high tariff bills with long term savings.
